About Us

Vertical Descents is one of the longest established dedicated coasteering centres in Scotland and Cornwall and is the foremost coasteering provider in the UK. The adventure sport of coasteering is quickly becoming one of the UK's top-rated high adrenaline activities. Since 1998, it has been our pleasure to develop and tailor coasteering trips at our different locations, offering everything from family-friendly to high-adrenaline trips in the wilderness.
Exploring Scotland's spectacular coastline is a unique and exciting experience. The exhilarating outdoor adventure activity includes wild swimming, exploring caves and gullies, traversing and scrambling along low-level sea cliffs, and cliff jumping. We have developed routes in the best locations for coasteering in Cornwall, the South West and Scotland. The Venture Centre can take you to places that humans cannot otherwise access and see things only a handful of individuals see. Our equipment is the best available and is designed explicitly for coasteering to keep you safe and warm. We will take photos throughout your entire experience, so you have something to remember your coasteering adventure.
We offer coasteering to all as it can be tailored to suit the specific requirements of each individual. This trip is an excellent team-building activity, educational experience, and adventure all in one. It is the perfect activity for anyone who can put on a wetsuit, swim a little, and have an adventurous spirit. We offer group sessions for schools, military training, corporate events, families and couples, scouts and cadets, and youth groups.
We offer Coasteering sessions every day at 10 am and 2 pm. Generally, our minimum age requirement for children is 8, but it depends on if the child can fit into our smallest wetsuit. Please get in touch with us to discuss this further. It is not necessary to be physically fit to enjoy this outdoor activity. However, it is essential to be mentally and physically prepared for climbing and sea swimming ahead of the session. We provide all specialist equipment. You will need to bring swimwear under a wetsuit, sturdy outdoor footwear that you don't mind getting wet (like old trainers), a towel and warm clothes to change into afterwards. We will meet you before the session in the car park at Corran Halls, which is easy to find via Google maps.
