About Us

Scarborough Surf School operates year-round and seven days a week from our stunning beachfront location at Cayton Bay, just south of Scarborough. Whether you are new to the sport or have experience, our instructors are highly qualified, experienced, and capable of teaching you the basics quickly and safely. If you're looking to learn to surf in Scarborough, you're in the right place too. We are Scarborough's number one surf school and shop and have taught more people to surf than any other organisation on the East Coast. With Scarborough Surf School's Coasteering lessons, we've got your back when the surf's flat, so you'll have smiles for miles and exhilaration.
This growing sport has quickly become one of our most popular outdoor activities, providing the ultimate adrenaline rush even on calm seas. The feedback from customers has been phenomenal, and we're looking forward to showing you what our coastline is really capable of. Coasteering combines swimming along sea cliffs with exploring caves, cracks, gullies, rocks, and different rock formations created by the sea while traversing the lower levels of sea cliffs above deep water and finally climbing the cliffs to jump from different locations. Cliff jumps range from 1 - 10 meters in height, so there's something for everyone, with different routes tailored to individual abilities and groups.
Wetsuits, recreational buoyancy aids, whitewater helmets, and appropriate footwear are all required to do coasteering. However, all you will need to bring is swimwear, a towel, and a sense of adventure. We provide all the other necessary equipment. So no matter if you're a family looking for a unique way to explore the coast, a group of college students on a team-building exercise, or a stag or hen party looking for an adventurous experience, we've got it covered.
As a result of the local chalk cliffs and lack of clay and sediment, both visibility and water quality are exceptional at our Coasteering location. With a little sunshine, you could easily be in the Mediterranean, and if you visit early summer, you will see a variety of nesting birds, including Puffins, Razorbills, and Seagulls. It is necessary to book all Coasteering courses prior to participating, and we will also offer Surf Lessons as a secondary activity if the swell is too rough to safely Coasteer. No matter what the weather, we can provide exciting activities and an experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.
