About Us

We are passionate about the natural world and its beautiful wild places here at Ocean Vertical. Our passions are adventure and silent human-powered sports, along with respect for the environment. Our business is based in Scotland on the rugged coast of East Lothian, 25 miles east of Edinburgh. We are adventurers specialising in paddleboarding, coasteering, surfing, SUP yoga, climbing and mountaineering, local and across Scotland, 365 days a year.
How does coasteering work? It is a rocky, watery journey into the intertidal zone, swimming, climbing, jumping, and exploring the coast of East Lothian. Coasteering is a unique way to experience an inaccessible land and ocean environment, and it is fun, wild and gives you a whole new perspective of the natural world. Discover rocky headlands and inlets, scramble over inaccessible tidal islands and learn to jump from height safely with the help of our professional guides. It is a spectacular place to watch puffins, gannets, seals, and even the occasional dolphin in the marine wilderness. It is nothing like anything else you have ever seen.
Sessions for coasteering are held from April to October, from 9.30 am - 12.30 pm or 2.30 pm - 5.00 pm. There is a moderate level of difficulty to coasteering we offer, so younger participants must be at least fourteen years old. Before the session, we will meet at Foxlake Adventures car park at 9.30 am or 2 pm. Please arrive 20 minutes early for your booked session. When booking, groups need to have between four and six members; the minimum number of four participants must be met. We will reschedule or refund the fee if the weather is unsafe or offer a 12-month voucher if the weather is unsuitable.
You'll get an experienced & qualified instructor, along with equipment; a wetsuit, coasteering boots, helmet, gloves, transportation from the beginning/end of the trip, buoyancy aid, and rash vest. We will provide showers, toilets, and changing facilities following this session. We would recommend you bring a towel, a lunch/snack, and a bottle of water, as well as sun cream if needed.
