Whether you want a unique family day out in South Devon or the perfect activity for a stag or hen party: Adventure South can cater for your group.
How does coasteering work? For people looking for an adrenaline rush, South Devon coasteering is our most popular activity. In a nutshell, coasteering entails traversing rocks, jumping off cliffs and ledges, swimming wild through swells and channels, as well as exploring the coastline. Our coasteering season runs between March and November. The duration of a session is around three hours from start to finish. Our sessions always provide a relaxed atmosphere, and our instructors are friendly and experienced.
You won't need any prior experience because you'll be fully covered from head to toe in neoprene and have a high-quality buoyancy aid, so you'll float really well. Our Salcombe Coasteering Experience provides a more sheltered environment, fewer swimming hazards, and a lot of opportunities to get out of the water for first-timers (especially in open water). We will provide all the equipment, but please bring your own shoes. You will need trainers or walking shoes with laces and decent soles, and make sure they are still relatively intact. Since we will be walking on uneven, rocky terrain that can be slippery at times, we will need walking shoes or trainers that provide good support. It is not recommended to wear neoprene rock shoes without laces or pull cords.
Is it necessary for me to jump? Jumping is the main attraction of coasteering, but there is so much more to coasteering than just jumping. Everyone has the option to jump, as we don't force anyone to do anything they don't want to. It is a challenge by choice, as we say. Can I wear my own wetsuit? Absolutely, wetsuits must be long-sleeved and at least 5mm thick, especially if it's for a child.
